Approximately 800 years from now, the Earth will be covered in garbage and dust due to mass consumerism and will not be able to be lived on by the human population. However, on Earth will be a hero named Wall-E. In the film Wall-E, a robot that’s designed to compact trash remains on Earth as it continues to sort through garbage. However, he falls in love with another robot sent from space on its own mission named EVE. Together, they go through missions to save the world and make Earth habitable once again.

What’s stunning about this 2008 Pixar film is that although there are a lot of emotions and touchy moments, there is almost no dialogue, especially throughout the beginning section of the film. Most of the communication is done by body language and robotic sounds, yet they display such human qualities that the audience can relate to.

This particular film won the Golden Globe Award for Best Featured Film and ranked fifth highest grossing opening for Pixar films. Friendship, love, and the heroic moments are endless in this film and through the lack of spoken words, comes a greater sense of communication and bonding through other means. Unlike the films that may use dialogue that is portrayed differently between adults and children, this film brings a sense of unity in common understanding. A “lack” of dialogue does not at all reduce the quality and amusement of the film, which just shows how much more there is to communicating then the words from our mouths.

The Simpsons

Since 1989, The Simpsons has given many people entertainment for now nearly 26 years. Without a doubt, it is the most popular cartoon aired of all time, and the changes it has seen is also dramatic. These changes can be anything from graphic or audio quality to the social changes over time.

What makes The Simpsons most appealing to me personally is the unique introduction it brings with each episode. They have special introductions for seasonal changes or holidays, but nevertheless, each one is unique and new. Often times, it’s here where the laughter starts instead of the first scene unlike many other TV animated shows such as Family Guy or American Dad which are also very popular among watchers.

Although satirical many points made in The Simpsons can be frighteningly true about our society, which can make the cartoon comedic and funny to the youth and to adults on different stages. Drugs, religion, homosexuality, and many other aspects are included in episodes, but often times are stereotypical and shouldn’t be taken to heart.

The Simpsons combines brilliant materials from history to just plain dumb puns to bring together an excellent form of amusement and still to this day appeal to watchers of all ages.

Frozen Fever

We all know the film Frozen and how successful it was, winning two Academy Awards (best animated film and best original song) as well as winning the Golden Globe for best animated film. As the fifth highest grossing film of all time and highest grossing animated film earning over 1.27 billion dollars worldwide, its success is unparalleled by any other . Its success as a film also spread to its digital DVD/BluRay release and despite how easy it is to pirate movies now, it has still been one of the biggest successes of the last decade.

What’s even more exciting is that Disney has decided to create a short film called Frozen Fever to be released on February 13th. The trailer can be seen online and is about Elsa catching a cold that could risk Anna’s birthday party and more. It can only be seen in theaters after the film Cinderella.

Due to Frozen Fever’s release and showing with Cinderella, Cinderella is also expected to have high views, however, it seems more people want to watch it just to see Frozen Fever. How successful it will be, no one knows, but exactly two weeks from today, it will show in theatres.
